Narcissistic Abuse &
Controlling Relationships
Find room for your own voice, your needs, and your sense of self.
Ask about therapy ↗When closeness leaves you questioning yourself.
When a relationship leaves you doubting yourself, walking on eggshells, or feeling responsible for someone else’s reactions, it can be difficult to know where to begin. You may find yourself explaining the same hurt repeatedly, minimizing what happened, or wondering whether your needs are unreasonable.
At Endeavour Psychology Group, we offer therapy for people affected by narcissistic abuse, emotional manipulation, and controlling relationships. These experiences can occur with a partner, parent, or another important person in your life. You do not need to diagnose someone else—or decide what to do about the relationship—before seeking support.
Our work focuses on the patterns you are experiencing, their impact on you, and what you need to feel safer and more grounded.
Rebuild trust in yourself.
Make sense of the pattern
Explore blame, invalidation, control, and the pull to keep explaining or proving yourself. Develop language for your experience without reducing a complex relationship to a label.
Reconnect with your needs
Notice feelings and body signals you have learned to dismiss. Practice expressing preferences, tolerating guilt, and making room for your own perspective.
Build boundaries at your pace
Clarify what is within your control, work through grief and attachment, and consider choices that fit your circumstances. When safety is a concern, we prioritize individual support and thoughtful planning.
Dr. Natasha Behnam’s work includes recovery from narcissistic abuse and complex relational trauma, with attention to attachment, family systems, culture, and lived experience.
Meet Dr. Behnam ↗Families Impacted by Addiction
A loved one’s substance use can affect the whole family. You do not need to describe your experience as narcissistic abuse to seek support.
Our dedicated page explores support for partners, parents, siblings, and adult children, including boundaries, family roles, trust, and caring for your own well-being.

Some familiar patterns.
Families affected by addiction and people recovering from controlling or emotionally abusive relationships may recognize some of the same adaptations: walking on eggshells, watching for changes in someone’s mood, taking on too much responsibility, doubting their own perceptions, or feeling guilty when setting limits.
These experiences are not interchangeable. Addiction does not establish that someone is narcissistic or abusive, and abuse is not explained away by substance use. We look carefully at the actual behaviors, their impact, and the safety of each person involved.
Where these patterns overlap, therapy can help you understand what you learned to do to get through difficult situations, recognize what no longer serves you, and develop relationships with more room for honesty, accountability, and choice.
